Blake Coleman Scores OT Winner as Bolts Defeat the Wings

The Tampa Bay Lightning defeated the Detroit Red Wings 4-3 in overtime on Tuesday night. Tampa Bay got off to a good start in the first period and lead 2-1 going into the second. However, Detroit would respond in the second and take the lead from the Lightning heading into the third. Tampa would then tie it in the third period, sending this game to overtime where Blake Coleman would score the game-winning goal for the Bolts.

Game Flow

Detroit got things started early in this one, with Adam Erne scoring on a power play. Tampa responded later in the period with a power play goal of their own from Brayden Point. Less than a minute later, Tyler Johnson tipped one in to give the Lightning a 2-1 lead.

Detroit proved to not be done in the second period. Six minutes in, Patrik Nemeth scored to tie the game. Three minutes later, Dylan Larkin scored to regain the lead for Detroit.

Detroit held on to their lead through the second period but Tampa proved to still have some energy in the third. Nine minutes in, Erik Cernak scored his first goal of the season to tie things up again. This game would head into overtime, in which Blake Coleman scored the game-winner.
