After new head coach Gus Malzahn signed with UCF, the school has seen an increase of incoming talent overnight. Multiple players and coaches alike from Auburn have made the trek with Malzahn to UCF. Former Auburn captain Big Kat Bryant joined the list of notable names to do so, as the 4-star defensive end announced his transfer to UCF on Tuesday via Twitter.
As Bryant stated after the announcement, “Tbh I’m just ready to play ball. I didn’t get to wreck college football like I wanted to last year due to injury. They say greatness takes patience and during this process I’ve just GREW hungrier”.
As stated in the tweet, UCF will be receiving an injury-prone player. The defensive end only had 17 tackles and 3 sacks in 10 games last season due to limited playing time. However, the graduate transfer had much more production in his overall tenure with the Tigers, as he totaled 56 tackles, 10 sacks, two interceptions, and two forced fumbles in his 48 games played with Auburn. To his credit, Bryant still received the honor of a second-team All-SEC selection this past season.
Conclusion
As stated earlier, Bryant will not qualify as the only transfer from Auburn to UCF this season. Mark-Antony Richards (Running back) and Nate Craig-Myers (Reciever) both played at Auburn at one point in their college careers. However, Bryant will still be the first player on the defensive side of the football to reunite with Malzahn. Expect for him to fit in with the program immediately, as UCF needs all the help they can get in the competitive American Athletic Conference.
