Victor Oladipo to Miami?

Victor Oladipo has had a turbulent NBA career. I mean, seriously, whenever he gets comfortable in a city, he gets traded away just like that. Oladipo was traded this past Wednesday to the Houston Rockets. Yet, he does not seem to be comfortable in Houston. And wouldn’t you know it, a top landing spot for him happens to be the Miami Heat.

Victor Oladipo started out as a promising rookie with the Orlando Magic. In his first season, he averaged 14 points per game with 4 assists to go along with it. The next year, he took a big leap while averaging about 18 points per game. He somewhat maintained that level of production in his final season with Orlando, averaging 16 a game. Then, Oladipo was traded on draft night to the OKC Thunder for draft rights to Domantas Sabonis. Get this, after Oladipo played for one year with the Thunder, he was traded to the Pacers, and Sabonis was already there. Since then, they have formed a dynamic duo in Indiana. During his time in Indiana, Victor Oladipo averaged 20 points per game, with about 5 boards and four assists on average per game.

Victor Oladipo has had injuries in the past, but none worse than his season-ending knee injury in the 2018-2019 season.

While Oladipo has shown flashes of greatness, he just has not been too far in the playoffs. He might have had the chance had he not suffered a season-ending knee injury just 39 games into the 2018-2019 season. If the Rockets can construct a trade with Miami, maybe there is a chance Victor Oladipo can get some playoff experience. But what will it take for this trade to happen?

Trade possibilities:

For this trade to happen, the Heat will have to give up one of their young assets. They most likely would have to give up either Tyler Herro or Duncan Robinson. While this would be a fair price, the Heat can get Oladipo through free agency without giving up any of their young stars. That would probably be the most ideal situation for the Heat. But, be on the lookout, because Oladipo wants a trade done sooner rather than later. There is a reason that this trade between the Rockets and Pacers has not been deemed official just yet.
