Markelle Fultz and Jonathan Isaac Sign Extensions

The Orlando Magic signed two key players to large extensions on Monday afternoon. Markelle Fultz signed a three year, $50 million extension and Jonathan Isaac agreed to a four year, $80 million extension.

The former first overall pick, is staying with the Magic for at least three years. The Magic got Markelle Fultz in a trade with the Sixers last year. In return, the Magic sent two first round picks and Jonathan Simmons to the Sixers.

Markelle Fultz, 22, took a major step last year during his first year in Orlando. In 72 games, he averaged 12.1 points, 5.1 assists, 3.3 rebounds and 1.3 steals in 27.7 minutes while shooting 46.5 percent from the field and 73.0 percent from the line. This season, Fultz is poised for a big role as the Magic’s starting PG, even with rookie Cole Anthony aside.

Jonathan Isaac tore his left ACL and meniscus in August during a seeding game against the Sacramento Kings in the NBA Disney bubble. As a result, the Magic were granted a disabled player exception worth $3,681,283 following the loss of Isaac for the 2020-21 season. Now, the Magic extend Isaac for 4 years, worth $80 million.

Last year in 34 games, Isaac averaged 11.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.4 assists, shooting 47.0 percent from the field. The 6-11 big man posted career highs across the board last season, in his breakout year.
