Trevor Lawrence faces a critical season in Jacksonville. After three uneven years, 2025 looks different for many reasons.
Looking Back On Trevor Lawrence’s Career
Lawrence shined brightest in 2022. That year, he threw 25 touchdowns and ran for five more. He finished 12th in fantasy points. In 2023, his play improved but touchdowns dipped. That hurt fantasy managers. In 2024, his numbers fell again. Injuries also returned to haunt him.
He missed time with a shoulder injury in Week 9. Then a concussion cut his season short. Even when healthy, Lawrence had troubling trends. He posted under 200 yards in five games. That only happened twice the year before.
Fantasy Football Hope For 2025
There is still hope for a big rebound. A lot of it starts with new head coach Liam Coen. Coen’s system turned Baker Mayfield around fast. In 2023, Mayfield’s passing grade was 72.8. In 2024 under Coen, it jumped to 82.4. His fantasy points climbed from 16.7 to 22.5.
Lawrence also runs more than Mayfield ever did. That opens a path to even better stats. Jaguars fans can dream of Lawrence finally becoming a weekly fantasy star.
This new offense should also help Lawrence’s accuracy. Under Doug Pederson, Lawrence threw deep often. That hurt his efficiency. His deep ball accuracy ranked near the bottom. But on short throws, he was elite. Coen’s scheme should favor quick passes. That suits Lawrence perfectly.
Revamped Jacksonville Jaguars WR & TE Group
Jacksonville also revamped its receiver group. They traded up for Travis Hunter with the second overall pick in the NFL Draft. They signed Dyami Brown to stretch defenses. Hunter and Brian Thomas Jr. could form Lawrence’s best duo yet.
The Jaguars did lose tight end Evan Engram. But Brenton Strange showed promise. His receiving grade last season was close to Engram’s. Strange could become another solid target.
FL Teams Projections
All this matters beyond fantasy. The Jacksonville Jaguars odds to surpass their projected 7.5 wins hinge on Lawrence. If he thrives in Coen’s system, Jacksonville can easily clear that number. If he struggles again, Trevor will be staring at 2026 backup QB opportunities. The AFC South isn’t a powerhouse division. The Texans look tough, and the Colts and Titans have questions. That makes a Jacksonville OVER 7.5 wager a compelling one.
For fantasy managers, Lawrence profiles as a high-upside QB2. In superflex leagues, he’s a gamble worth taking. In standard leagues, he’s more of a bye-week fill-in. But if Coen’s system clicks, Lawrence could smash expectations. Expect Lawrence to start hot. He’s healthy and motivated. Finally, he has a coaching staff tailoring plays to his strengths. Jacksonville invested everything into making Lawrence their franchise star. 2025 is his time to prove he truly is.
