UCF Baseball had one job: beat Baylor, make the Big 12 tournament, and salvage something from this miserable year.
They failed.
Again.
With the loss, the Knights are officially eliminated from postseason contention, bringing a pathetic end to the 2024-2025 season for UCF’s men’s major sports. There’s no sugarcoating it anymore—this year was a disgrace. A complete waste of elite talent across the board, and another painful reminder that since joining the Big 12, UCF has looked lost.
Let’s start with football. A 4-8 finish. That’s not just bad—that’s embarrassing. And it came while wasting the prime of RJ Harvey, a true workhorse who racked up 1,500 rushing yards and averaged an absurd 6.8 yards per carry. Those are All-American, Heisman-caliber numbers… flushed down the drain. Harvey deserved a shot at glory. Instead, he gets a first-class ticket to the NFL while his college team flails in mediocrity.
Basketball wasn’t any better. The Knights opened strong, gave fans a glimmer of hope, and then nosedived to a 17-16 finish. Keyshawn Hall, the 6’7 “big guard,” was a beast all year—18.8 points, seven boards a night—and now he’s off to Auburn to play for a team that wins in March. Meanwhile, UCF waves goodbye, stuck in the same cycle of wasted potential.
And don’t forget Darius Johnson. Four years of grit, leadership, and lockdown defense. Averaged 17 points and 4.2 assists per game. One of the best two-way guards in the country—gone, without ever making it to March Madness. What a way to waste a legacy.
Then there’s baseball. UCF controlled its destiny. Beat Baylor, and you’re in the Big 12 tournament. Instead? Another gutless collapse. Another opportunity fumbled. And in the process, another generational talent was wasted. Andrew Williamson was nothing short of spectacular—.355 average, 13 homers, 13 stolen bags. The dude looked like a college Mike Trout. And for what? To watch the team fall flat on its face when it mattered most?
Williamson should be a top-10 pick in next year’s MLB Draft. The real question: why would he stay here? Why waste another season with a program that can’t capitalize on its stars?
The year is over. And the only thing left is the bitter taste of disappointment. UCF entered the Big 12 with ambition and excitement. But so far? They’ve looked like they don’t belong.
Outcoached. Outclassed. Out of their depth.
Something has to change. Or this will become the new normal.
You suck.
