Georgia finished the 2023 season 12-1, en route to being named SEC runner up after a 27-24 loss to Alabama. After commanding the top spot on the AP Poll for the entire season, the Bulldogs fell down the rankings to the #6 spot, eliminating them from playoff contention.

This season, Georgia dominated the competition, defeating ranked SEC rivals: Missouri, Ole’ Miss and Tennessee. Offensively, the Bulldogs were in the top tier of college football, as they recorded 3,973 passing yards (2nd SEC, 5th NCAA), and scored 499 total points (2nd SEC, 7th NCAA). The Georgia defense also held down the fort, recording the fewest touchdowns allowed in the SEC this season (13).

Florida State finished the season as undefeated, 13-0, ACC Champions. During the final weeks of the regular season, the Seminoles lost star quarterback, Jordan Travis, to a devastating leg injury. Despite their undefeated record, the College Football Playoff Committee did not select the ‘Noles for playoff contention.

This season, FSU had notable victories over: Louisville, LSU, Clemson and Miami. Travis’ dominance propelled the Seminoles’ offense to new heights, as they recorded 3,372 passing yards (2nd ACC) and scored 481 total points (1 ACC, 9 NCAA). The FSU defense remained unconquered as well, only allowing 15.9 points per game (1 ACC), and recording 45 sacks (1 ACC, 3 NCAA) and 12 fumbles (3 ACC).

The highly anticipated matchup between Florida State and Georgia in the Capital One Orange Bowl will be played on December 30. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 P.M.

  1. If Florida state wants a true argument then play in that bowl game and beat Georgia or are they afraid of a loss?

    1. And play for what they already got screwed its meaningless to even play for ESPN and the NCAA committee, they screwed Florida State dish it back and screw them.
Your obviously blindsided like the ncaa committee.

      1. This is their chance to prove they deserved to be in, but ….when Georgia beats the crap out of them you’ll see the decision was correct. They should make this a statement if they’re truly deserving.

    2. True – FSU fans are understandably bitter. By beating Georgia, you prove the legitimacy of the program. Some will say the record does, but this is laughable based on strength of division and outcome of games. Sorry, I’ve seen more competitive pop Werner teams compared to the ACC

  2. Both teams have been cheated out opportunity for playoffs. An undefeated team, not about a player in a team sport & a team that hadn’t lost a game in two years lose by three pts & they miss a field goal. GA is still top four & Maybe the best team but we’ll never know. BACK TO BACK CHAMPION DENIED A CHANCE TO THREE PEAT

    1. Neither are cheated out, Georgia got beat by #8 ranked Bama and Florida state barely beat Louisville so they’re where they need to be.

  3. As a FSU fan I’m not happy about the reason the decision was made to bump them out of the playoffs. They have proven on numerous occasions that they can win without Travis. Ontop of that the committee should not base their fate based on whether or not they are better or worse without Travis. It’s irrelevant. That’s like saying Patrick Mahomes gets injured for the season chiefs making the playoffs but bump them out because now they feel they are not as good. It’s absolutely insane. Florida State has one of the top defenses in the country if not the best. Plus they are a second half team and find ways to win while battling adversity and still went undefeated. That’s an example of a great team that deserves a chance at a title. To really stick it to the committee play in the orange bowl and smash Georgia.

  4. Best we can do is what we got and I was afraid they would keep us at #4 so we have to play Georgia rite off the bat,now look where we are playen them for nothing.cfb,is the black rock of college football.lcd at best.

  5. ESPN and the SEC pressured the CFP Committee to have an SEC Team -Alabama- in the playoffs but to do so the Committee had to put Texas in ahead of Alabama.
    The Committee bowed to pressure.

  6. It’s going to be tough if Georgia has all their 1st string playing. The majority of FSU starters and big play players have opted out of the bowl game for the NFL draft!!! Which means all our reserves will be playing!!!

  7. The sad part is that with players entering the transfer portal and others opting out on playing fans will not see the team’s at their full strength. FSU and Georgia both got screwed. But the biggest losers, were the fans and players for each team. Shame on the CFP.
