Week 8 Buy Low and Sell High Candidates: Fantasy Football Trade Deadline

Buy Low:

Rashee Rice: Rice has been more consistent with his opportunities and has started carving out a bigger role in the Chiefs offense. He has shown that he can be a redzone threat with two touchdowns in his last three games, averaging 13.83 PPR points over that span. I expect his usage to increase as the season progresses. Buy now if you need a wide receiver.

Tony Pollard: We know, Pollard has had a rough couple of games. But last week Pollard played 80% of the snaps and has averaged 67% over the last three games. There are simply not a lot of running backs receiving the kind of volume that Pollard is. On top of that, Pollard has very favorable matchups over the next several weeks coming off the bye (Rams, Eagles, Giants, Panthers, Commanders, and Seahawks). Look for Pollard to bounce backs in the coming weeks behind one of the best offensive lines in the NFL.

Jaylen Waddle: Waddle is another guy who hasn’t lived up to his ADP. He has yet to have a game where he tops 100 receiving yards and only has two touchdowns on the season. It’s only a matter of time before he has that breakout game. Expect the Dolphins to up his usage, especially after the team’s week 10 bye.

David Montgomery: Montgomery may not play this week and that’s okay. When he’s been on the field, he averages a whopping 23 touches. He has two top five running back finishes on the year and averages 67.5% of the snaps when healthy. The Lions also use him a lot in the red zone, so the touchdown potential is there. I expect that to continue when he returns from injury.

Zay Flowers: Flowers has produced a level of consistency so far that is hard to match. As a rookie, he’s quietly 14th in target share (28%) and has huge, big play potential. The only issue is that he has one touchdown so far through seven games. Still, Flowers is a top 25 receiver and can continue to be used as a high end WR3 or flex option.

Saquon Barkley: After missing three games with an ankle sprain, Barkley has put up two solid performances. He saw an 84% snap share in week 7 and looks primed to take back his bell cow role for the rest of the season. The elbow injury he suffered is viewed as not serious and should be good to go in their matchup against a somewhat vulnerable Jets run defense that gives up 21.2 ppg to opposing running backs.

Sell High:

Raiders' Davante Adams admits frustration with lack of involvement: 'I'm not here to just hang out' - CBSSports.com

Davante Adams: Adams has let it be known that he’s frustrated with his role in the offense. Jakobi Meyers has seen 10+ targets in four out of seven games and it’s hard to see that changing anytime soon. That along with the revolving door of quarterbacks due to Jimmy G’s injury hurts Adams’ production.

Jordan Addison: Look, I’m not suggesting that you MUST sell him because I think he’ll play bad. But if you can find somebody in your league who’s very interested in him and will give up a haul, I suggest you take it. Once Justin Jefferson comes back, some of those big plays and targets will shift back to him.

CeeDee Lamb: Lamb had a great performance in week 6 (7 receptions for 117 yards). I just don’t view him as a true workhorse number one wide receiver in fantasy. He’s 40th in target share at 21%. The Cowboys recipe for success is when they run the ball well and play great defense. Michael Gallup also saw more targets (10 to 7) and the touchdown potential is so limited for Lamb. I would sell while you can get a good enough return in accordance with his ADP.

Jahmyr Gibbs: Gibbs’ value is at an all-time high. Despite a blowout loss to the Ravens, Gibbs scored 27.6 full ppr points and scored his first touchdown. That being said, his solid output did not translate to the Lions winning and offensive coordinator Ben Johnson LOVES using David Montgomery. Sell high on Gibbs before Montgomery comes back and takes back his usual role.

Derrick Henry: Henry had a great output in week 6 finishing with 97 yards on 12 carries with a touchdown. But rookie Tyjae Spears has ate into Henrys workload and snaps. Spears led in snaps (56% to 53%) and is very involved in the passing game. His role will continue to stay as is and should be considered an elite option if Henry were to get traded/injured.

Aaron Jones: Not sure if you can sell HIGH but I do recommend selling Jones. He has not fully recovered from the hamstring injury he suffered in week 1. The Packers offense has many concerns outside of the running game. Even if Jones does get healthy in the coming weeks, I’m not sure there will be much room to run.
