On Sunday, the Orlando Magic came out on top with a 119-106 win over the Brooklyn Nets. The win streak for Orlando moves to three games now as the team recently defeated the Washington Wizards and New York Knicks prior to this outing.
Great Offense was the Key to Winning
Orlando has scored 110+ points in each of these games during their win streak and it continued against Brooklyn.
Orlando had a major outing from Cole Anthony, who led the team in points with 21 and went 8/13 (62%) from the field. He along with Mo Wagner and all five Orlando starters scored in double figures for the game.
The Magic were great on the glass as well. The wing tandem of Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero combined for 19 rebounds. Anthony also contributed with six off the bench along with a great scoring night.
As a team, the Magic shot an impressive 52.9% from the field. This was all set up from the phenomenal rebounding they had. They out-rebounded Brooklyn on the defensive end 38-29.
They also had 58 points in the paint showing that they controlled the game down low and it set the offense up for success throughout the game in which they capitalized.
Head coach Jamahl Mosley on the offense in the win: “We did a great job of moving it, sharing it, and trusting each other… you ask your g group to grow and that is what these guys have done.”
Mikal Bridges drops 44 points in loss
Bridges has played superb thus far in Brooklyn since getting traded from Phoenix back in February. Sunday night was no different; he had 44 points and six rebounds. He also went an astonishing 6/9 (66%) percent from three-point range.
Cam Thomas also had a great night off the bench for the Nets. He finished with 18 points. However, he also led the team in turnovers for the night with three. Brooklyn had a combined 15 team turnovers throughout the game.
Besides those two, the Nets lacked scoring from other players as the next highest scorer was Cameron Johnson who finished with just 10 points. Johnson was packaged in the blockbuster Suns and Nets trade along with Bridges.
The lack of production from the other players left the Nets scrambling to keep up.
