Miami Hurricanes Win a Heavy Offensive Game, Defeat FAU Owls 10-5

On a cool and windy March evening, the Miami Hurricanes took the field looking fresh in their all white uniforms, ready to go to battle against the Florida Atlantic University Owls in their all grey uniforms. Miami’s baseball team came into this matchup with a record of 14 wins and 6 losses (5-1 in their conference). The FAU Owls, meanwhile, came in with a record of 12 wins and 9 losses (0-3 in their conference).

Recap

The first inning should be labeled “The Home Run Party”… specifically for FAU. The Owls cranked three home runs that included a solo home run by Nolan Schanuel, a two-run home run by Dylan Goldstein, and another solo home run by Caleb Pendleton giving them a 4-0 lead.

The fourth inning was all Hurricanes as they struck back in a HUGE way, lead by the Designated Hitter Blake Cyr and his three-run homer to close the Owl lead to just one run. In that same inning, Hurricanes Catcher Carlos Perez roped a double down the right field line tying the game at four. To cap off the inning, leadoff batter and first baseman CJ Kayfus blasted a three-run home run to deep right field.

The Canes scored three more runs to take the 10-5 dub at home.

Owls starting pitcher C.J. Williams was dominant on the mound in his three innings of work. Williams allowed only one hit and one walk to go along with three strikeouts in his outing. However, the Owls relievers had their work cut out for them and could not hold down this non-stop Hurricanes offense, giving up 10 runs total in their innings of relief work.
