In a Tuesday night showdown between two inner state rivals playing college baseball, the UCF Knights knocked off the UNF Ospreys in Orlando, Florida.
UNF came into this matchup winners of four consecutive games and were looking to continue their win streak. Both teams got off to a slow start in a back-and-forth contest until the 4th inning when UCF got on the scoreboard. UCF’s Tom Johnston homered to right field to put the Knights up 1-0, and they eventually would go up 2-0 heading into the 5th.
The Ospreys responded in the top of the 5th as Alex Lodise hit a homer to left field, but UCF would pull away in the bottom of the 5th. The Knights proceeded to score six runs in the inning including a grand slam to help them extend their lead. UNF hit a late homer in the 9th but all was lost as the Knights dominated the game and won 10-3 Tuesday evening.
The Knights will take on Troy this weekend at home, and the Ospreys will be in Jacksonville to host Fairfield this weekend.
