Orlando Magic Alter Admiral Schofield’s Contract to a Standard NBA Deal

On Tuesday, the Orlando Magic gave small forward Admiral Schofield a full-time, regular NBA contract. This is an upgrade from his standard two-way deal.

The former Tennessee Volunteer was drafted 42nd overall in the 2019 NBA draft by the Philadelphia 76ers. He was traded to the Washington Wizards on the day of the draft. In D.C., Schofield averaged 3.0 points and 1.4 rebounds a game in 33 games played in his rookie season.

During the 2021 G-League draft, the Greensboro Swarm picked him No. 1 overall. He eventually started laying for Orlando’s G-League affiliate, the Lakeland Magic. He appeared in 21 games for both teams. His career G-League stats were 14.8 points, 2.3 assists, and 5.8 rebounds a game. He also had a 34.2 three-point percentage. He won a championship for Lakeland in 2021.

The Magic had him moved up with his two-way deal during the 2021-22 season. He appeared in 38 games that season and has appeared in 27 thus far this season. In his two years with the Magic, he has averaged 4.1 points, 2.2 rebounds, and has a solid free throw percentage of 85.3% since he started playing for Orlando.

Schofield on the culture in Orlando, “What’s happening in Lakeland is bleeding up here [Orlando] as well…the guys are doing a good job with building the culture here with winning and what you see out on the floor.”
