The Orlando Magic came to San Francisco having dropped four out of their last five games. The Magic have had a hard time finding their footing with tougher Western Conference opponents. Orlando looked to put a stop to their Western Conference woes and try and find their identity going forward.
Paolo On A Mission
Orlando started this game hot out of the gate and also on the hunt for stopping the Warriors’ three-point brigade. Rookie phenom Paolo Banchero started off this game looking to send a message to the Dubs. Banchero was finding every opportunity he could to score the rock. The rookie was finding shots from all spots and was the catalyst to the Magic staying with the Warriors early on in the game. Banchero ended the game with 25 points and five rebounds while being a vocal leader on the court.
Wagner Heats Up
Second-year stud Franz Wagner also helped propel the Magic. The small forward had a very efficient game to help the Magic secure the win. Wagner finished with 24 points on 9-of-16 shooting while playing the most minutes of any Magic player.
Dubs Come Up Short
On the opposition, the Warriors were coming off a loss to Detroit and looked to not fall into a skid without Klay Thompson.
The Dubs came out of the gate on pace to break the record for most three-pointers attempted in a single game. Anthony Lamb made a name for himself by being a huge spark off the bench. Lamb dropped 26 points out of nowhere in just 33 minutes. Lamb couldn’t miss from deep to start this game. Jordan Poole started off the game facilitating after his shots were not falling but tried to keep the Warriors close down the stretch.
Poole’s efforts proved ineffective as the Magic pulled away in the second half of the game and took down the defending champs on their turf. Orlando won 115-101.
