The Washington Wizards came back to the FTX Arena to face off with Kyle Lowry and the Miami Heat. Washington was just in town on Friday where they merrily escaped with a one-point victory in a nail-biting and thrilling game versus Miami. Washington has been on a hot streak this season and has been playing much higher than the preseason projections had them doing. On the opposition, Miami has struggled to find its identity and their footing early on in the season. From battling injuries as well as playing in tough games has led to a less-than-ideal start for the Heat, who looked to turn it around against the Wizards on November 23rd.
Around The League
Miami came out strong from the gate, Kyle Lowry was on a tear to start this game. Lowry scored 24 of his 28 total points in the first half alone. Veteran leadership and a strong scoring presence helped facilitate a strong first half. Lowery’s dependable skills led the Heat to going up at half time. Lowry shot 7/12 from the field and an efficient 9/9 from the charity stripe. Lowry helped a depleted Heat squad out to an early jump which would prove necessary when the third quarter came around.
Lighting It Up
Washington came out of halftime with a chip in their shoulder and something to prove. Kyle Kuzma had 33 points on 13/27 shooting. It was a green light for Kuzma all night, and he was hitting. The Wizards had regained their momentum in a 37 point third quarter to keep it close until the final buzzer.
Dynamic Duo
Miami and two unsung “herro’s” tonight, Caleb Martin who played an outstanding 40 minutes of great basketball. The other star was, Tyler Herro who was the spark that led to Miami pulling away with the win and ending their four-game losing streak. Herro scored four clutch three’s down the stretch and once again silenced everyone in the off-season. Herro’s here to stay.
What’s Next
Washington and Miami face off yet again on Friday night, where the Heat look to build in this momentum and find their footing.
