Miami Dolphins Stifle Josh Allen, Buffalo Bills, move to 3-0 with 21-19 Win

The Miami Dolphins, led by Mike McDaniel, did something that has not been done since December 2, 2018. They defeated the mighty Buffalo Bills in a nail-biter that came down to the final seconds, 21-19. Miami is now 3-0 for the first time since 2018.

1. Tua Tagovailoa is coming into his own as a Star Quarterback

After a huge game against the Baltimore Ravens, Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa had another big test against the Buffalo Bills, and he passed it.

Even though he wasn’t on the field much, Tua still had a pretty good game, completing 13 of 18 passes for 186 yards and a touchdown (102 of those yards were to fellow Alabama teammate Jaylen Waddle). In the second quarter, Tua went down with an apparent head injury, so Miami put him in concussion protocol during halftime, but it turned out to be a back injury. Of course, the NFLPA wants to investigate the injury because they apparently hate the Dolphins.

Tua’s two biggest plays on the day were on the game-winning touchdown drive. For all of you people out there that would use to say “Tua can’t throw deep”, well, he did. First, he completed a 32-yard pass to Waddle. Then, on 3rd and 22, due to a penalty and a loss of yards the play before, Tua would look deep again, this time finding Waddle again for 45 yards down to the Buffalo seven-yard line. The crowd exploded.

2. The Fins ‘D bent, but not broke.

If you were to look at the statistics of the game, you would think Buffalo would’ve blown out Miami like they did to Tennessee and the Rams in the first two weeks, right? WRONG.

Buffalo did the following on Sunday: out-gained the Dolphins yardage-wise, doubled Miami in first downs AND time of possession, and nearly TRIPLED Miami in total plays.

So, how did the Bills not win?

First of all, they were not able to force any turnovers, and they lost the turnover battle with the Josh Allen fumble which set up Miami’s first touchdown. Second of all, Buffalo missed two HUGE scoring opportunities. Tyler Bass missed a field goal and then Buffalo was stopped at the goal line (4th and 2) with under two minutes remaining in the game.

3. Josh Allen CARRIES the Bills.

Let’s face it, this Bills team relies on Josh Allen. Allen came out all day on Miami’s defense and played out of his mind, completing 42 of 63 passes for 400 yards and two passing touchdowns. However, Miami halted Allen in the second half.

The Bills didn’t run the ball much, but when they did, it was Josh Allen scrambling. Allen led Buffalo in rushing with eight carries for 47 yards.

Overall, Allen played terrific. He continuously found the open man, and when he didn’t, he ran with the football for positive yards.

4. The rare butt-punt

After the Dolphins goal-line stand, they had to punt the ball back to Buffalo with a little over a minute remaining out of their own end zone. Thomas Morstead would boot a punt, but right into blocker Trent Sherfield’s butt. It even got Mark Sanchez (our opposition who’s infamous for the butt-fumble) telling us to stay in our lane (LOL).

It seemed like all hope had been lost for the Dolphins. Luckily, the clock was winding down as the Bills had no timeouts. Isaiah McKenzie made a nice catch, but couldn’t get out of bounds. As a result, the clock hit zero and Hard Rock Stadium’s sold-out crowd erupted. The Dolphins got the much-needed win over a Super Bowl contender.

Yes, we also have to include former legendary Miami Hurricanes QB and current Bills OC Ken Dorsey, who, after the game, destroyed his headset and threw the camera and papers all over the coaching box. The current-day Miami Hurricanes could’ve used his passion, as the day before, Miami got flattened to subpar C-USA team Middle Tennessee State.

Miami will travel to Cincinnati to face the Bengals on Thursday Night Football.
