The Miami Heat started their March schedule on the road facing off against the Milwaukee Bucks on Wednesday, March 2. This is the first of back-to-back road games in as many nights for the Heat. With Kyle Lowry remaining sidelined due to personal reasons, Miami came into this one a little more short-staffed than usual.
Recap
For the game itself, Miami’s defense got exposed in the first quarter. Allowing 36 points in the opening frame, the Heat came flying back in the second quarter and took the lead going into halftime, 66-64. Miami took control in the second half. Sprinting out to a lead in the final minutes of the fourth quarter, the Heat had the finish line within sight. Unfortunately, the Bucks completed an epic comeback and scored the final five points to secure the win, 120-119.
This one is a heart-breaker for the Heat. Despite draining 21 triples and shooting effectively on the night, Miami could not get to the free throw line to ice the game down the stretch. Tyler Herro, who finished with 30 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, was sensational in his bench role.
Aiding Herro, Bam Adebayo double-doubled with 18 points and 12 rebounds. Filling in as the starting point guard for the Heat, Gabe Vincent finished the contest with 21 points and six assists. Duncan Robinson even splashed five of his seven three-point attempts.
While this amount of support is tremendous, there is one notable name missing: Jimmy Butler. Jimmy ended with six points on 2-14 shooting from the field. He also only contributed three rebounds, dished two assists, and was a team-worst -21 in his 35 minutes. In a game that felt like a playoff game, this one hurts.
Jrue Holiday hit the game-winning shot for Milwaukee.
