Heat Survive in Double OT Thriller, Defeat Hornets 111-107

On the last day before the All-Star break in the National Basketball Association, the Miami Heat and Charlotte Hornets battled in a neck and neck game. The game went down to the wire, including a double overtime period, with the Heat pulling away with the win in the final moments of the game. The Heat escaped the Hornets comeback with a 111-107 win.

Kyle Lowry was the star of the night, especially in overtime. Lowry finished with 25 points, nine rebounds, and five assists. Duncan Robinson knocked down six threes for the Heat and totaled 21 for the game to help lead the Heat to victory. Jimmy Butler played a game-high 51 minutes for Miami, racking up 15 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists.

Overall, the Heat had six players in double figures: Adebayo, Butler, Lowry, Robinson, Tucker, and Yurtseven.

Miles Bridges played 50 minutes for the Hornets with 29 points and 11 rebounds. LaMelo Ball finished with a triple double, but fouled out late in overtime.

Both teams shot under 30% from the three point line in what was a sloppy game. Miami finished 14/48 behind the arc and the Hornets finished with 10 three pointers made out of 42 attempts totaling to only 23%. Both teams also struggled from the free throw line. Miami made only 15 out of 23 from the stripe; the Hornets made only 21 out of 30 from the stripe.

It is All-Star weekend, and the Heat will get a much-needed break. However, Jimmy Butler and Erik Spoelstra will be headed to Cleveland to participate in the All-Star game.

After the break, Miami will head to Madison Square Garden to face the Knicks.
