Miami Releases 2022 Football Schedule

The University of Miami has officially announced its schedule for the 2022-23 college football season.

Under new head coach Mario Cristobal, the U is expected to see a stark change at the helm of operations this year. Cristobal’s Hurricanes hope to take on a new look with quarterback Tyler Van Dyke — he threw for 2,931 yards and 25 touchdowns last season — and will likely stand as a competitor for the Coastal Division; maybe even an ACC title.

Here’s the breakdown of the schedule.

Things commence with ease through home-stands against FCS Bethune Cookman and Southern Mississippi. Middle Tennessee should also qualify as a breeze, but between the Hurricanes’ two CUSA opponents is a road game at Texas A&M. It will arguably be Cristobal’s toughest test of his career yet with A&M entering the game high and mighty as a preseason top 10 team and 2022 247Sports recruiting champion.

In-conference play kicks off a few weeks later following the bye in early October. Virginia Tech, Duke and Virginia should all be interesting tests with new head coaches on the horizon — Brent Pry (Virginia Tech), Mike Elko (Duke) and Tony Elliot (Virginia) — but the real crown jewel of the schedule will be the Florida State game. FSU is still reeling from the loss of former commit Travis Hunter, who was widely considered to be the No. 1 prospect in the 2022 recruiting class. The U, on the other hand, is looking to bounce back after losing its four-game winning streak vs. the ‘Noles the last time they played, having the chance to do so this year on November 5th.

Florida State triumphed in last year’s rubber match by a total of 31-28.

To wrap things up, it’s off to Georgia Tech and Clemson on the 12th and 19th, followed by a home contest vs. Pitt on the 29th. The Tigers finished 2021 ranked 14th in the AP Poll despite reeling in multiple CFP appearances in previous years, but they’ll return a more battle-ready offense in the upcoming season. Pittsburgh also remains a threat to win the Coastal Division thanks to the return of 10 All-ACC honorees.
