Lightning Strikes Four Times, Defeats Canucks 4-2

On a chilly Thursday evening, the Tampa Bay Lightning welcomed in the Vancouver Canucks from Canada. The Canucks were coming off a huge loss to the Florida Panthers 5-2 in a battle that took place Tuesday night from FLA Live Arena in Sunrise, Florida. Great goaltending, and timely power play goals converted into a huge win for the Lightning. Here is how they did it!

Starting off early and strong, the Tampa Bay Lightning scored on the power play just over three minutes into the first period. Center and captain Steven Stamkos scored a beautiful one-timer off assists from the assistant captains, Victor Hedman and Nikita Kucherov. For Stamkos, it was his team-leading 18th goal on the season.

Later in the first, Tampa would have some trouble as Matthew Highmore knotted the game at one on a goal that just squeaked by Lightning goaltender Andrei Vasilevskiy. And with twenty seconds left in the first, Anthony Cirelli came off the bench and scored a nice goal past Canucks goaltender Thatcher Demko.

No goals were scored in the second period. However, in the third period, there were three more goals scored. First, on a two on none, Katchouk and Colton played back and forth and Katchouk scored his second goal of the season top shelf on Demko. Shortly after, Tyler Motte scored a beauty between the legs past Vasilevskiy to get the Canucks back to within one.

To finish it off, Brayden Point scored an empty net goal and Champa Bay prevails 4-2 on an impressive win at home. Vasilevskiy was impressive for the Bolts, stopping 24 out of 26 shots faced, securing his 21st win on the season.

The Tampa Bay Lightning have one final game at home before going on a west coast road trip. Tampa will battle it out against Dallas, a rematch of the 2020 Stanley Cup Finals. Then on the road, trip Tampa will travel to California to take on the Kings, Ducks and Sharks in that order.
