Anthony Duclair Makes Hockey Fun, Panthers Beat Hurricanes in OT

The Florida Panthers defeated the Carolina Hurricanes in a wild one on Saturday night. The Canes made a late-game comeback but in the end, it was the Cats who got the goal in overtime to seal the win.

Game Recap

The first period saw both teams put on their best in scoring. Jonathan Huberdeau opened up scoring in this game with his 13th goal of the season. Teuvo Teravainen scored a couple of minutes later to even things up at one. Later in the frame, it was Carter Verhaeghe who scored to regain the lead for Florida.

Verhaeghe wasn’t done. Less than 40 seconds into the second period, he scored his second goal of the game. Later on in the frame, Brady Skjei scored to cut the Panthers lead to just one.

Carolina came into the third period looking to even things up. Two minutes in, Seth Jarvis scored to tie the game at three. 60 minutes turned out not enough to decide a winner in regulation. The game would head to overtime.

In the OT period, it was Anthony Duclair who scored the game-winner thanks to a terrific pass from Huberdeau. It was Duclair’s 14th goal of the season, tying Aleksander Barkov for the team lead in goals. Also, Duclair became the fifth Panthers skater to tally an overtime goal this season, the most overtime scorers of any NHL team.

It’s also Florida’s first overtime win since October 29th.

In a losing effort, Alex Lyon went 32-36 with a save percentage of .889%. Sergei Bobrovsky, meanwhile, went 24-27 with a save percentage of .889%.
