The Tennessee Titans, who were coming off two critical losses to the Texans and the Patriots, were looking to make amends after their bye week in a matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Considering reports had come out this week with tensions rising in the building between Urban Meyer and his staff, it was going to be interesting to see how the team was going to respond to the challenge on Sunday. The Jaguars got blitzed 20-0 by the Tennessee Titans, and had their first shoutout loss since 2009.
Recap
After the Titans went down the field on the first possession of the game and scored a touchdown, it was essentially smoothing sailing from there. Tennessee lead 10-0 at halftime, had over 36 minutes in time of possession, and created four turnovers as well. Julio Jones returned after missing the previous three games and chipped in a solid four receptions for 33 yards.
The Jaguars had arguably their worst game of the season in many different aspects of the game. Trevor Lawrence went 24-40 for 221 yards, 0 touchdowns, and 4 interceptions in his worst performance of the season. James Robinson, the workhorse running back for Jacksonville, had only six carries for four yards. The offensive line only allowed three sacks, but played much worse than the stats suggest. Trevor Lawrence was under duress the entire game and was scrambling on almost every snap. Play-calling for Darrell Bevell the Jaguars Offensive Coordinator was an issue yet again, as he struggled to get anyone going in a rhythm.
The Titans move up to 9-4 on the season as they continue to fight for first place in the AFC playoff race. The Jaguars have dropped to 2-11 and are officially eliminated from playoff contention. The Jaguars will take on the Houston Texans at TIAA Bank Field this Sunday (12/19) at 1PM EST.
