The Florida Gators Have Fired Head Coach Dan Mullen

The Florida Gators have announced that Head Coach Dan Mullen has been fired.

This comes after the Gators’ 24-23 loss to Missouri in OT, in which Florida fell to 5-6 (2-6 in the SEC) on the season. This season was a massive disappointment for the Florida Gators, coming one year after winning the SEC East.

Dan Mullen was hired in 2018, and rode a lot of hype with him after going 22-5 (11-5) in his first two years. In 2020, Florida won the SEC East with a record-setting offense.

However, in 2021, things fell apart. Florida almost upset No. 1 Alabama in The Swamp. But after that, everything fell apart. The Gators suffered losses to Kentucky, LSU, South Carolina, Missouri, and South Carolina. Even worse, Florida almost lost to Samford, an FCS school.

Running Backs Coach and Special Teams Coordinator Greg Knox will take over as the Gators interim coach.
