Short-Handed Miami Heat Defeat Thunder 102-90

The Miami Heat traveled to Oklahoma City Monday night to take on Lu Dort and the Thunder. The Miami Heat were very short-handed in this game, being with the likes of many of their best players. This meant that they needed the spark that Jimmy Butler usually brings from somewhere else. In this one, it was none other than young phenom Tyler Herro. Sharpshooter Duncan Robinson also stepped up big time in this one, connecting on five three-pointers, leading the Heat to a victory on the road.

Stepping Up

The Heat have been without their best players for a few games now. Defensive anchor Bam Adebayo was out in this one and the Heat definitely missed his inside presence. Bam brings such toughness to the game, his work ethic and defensive-minded tendencies are like none other. Dewayne Dedmon stepped up in this one, recording three blocks and protecting the paint all night. The Heat kept a slight edge of the Thunder all night, never really pulling too far away but also never falling too far behind; the Heat always kept about a slight lead in this one and it led to their 12-point victory.

Herroics

Tyler Herro got the call to start, and he did not disappoint. Herro recorded 26 points while shooting nine for eighteen from the field and connecting on five threes. Herro was looking to attack all night, getting to his spot and finding the open shots that we know he can make. Newly acquired veteran Kyle Lowry was also a difference maker in this one. Lowry dished out 11 assists and was facilitating the game in a way that only veterans do. It allowed for Duncan Robinson to find his shots, thus he was able to hit five out of his twelve three-pointers.

Thunder

On the opposition, Oklahoma City Thunder star Shai Gilgeous-Alexander struggled in the outing. He only connected on two of his eleven shots and only dished out five assists; he just looked a little off all game. Lu Dort stepped up for the Thunder and kept them in this one all game. Recording 20 points on 8 of 16 shooting, Dort kept the Thunder in this one and made it a close game.
