The Florida Panthers traveled to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania for game three of their long four-game road trip. Pittsburgh, sitting at 4-3-4, has not gotten the consistent start they’ve wanted. The Penguins sit at the bottom of the Metropolitan Division with 14 points. Meanwhile, the Panthers still sit at the top of the Atlantic with 22 points. A hard-fought back and forth game resulted in a shoutout loss for the Cats.

The first period of action started slow but then the two teams combined for two goals towards the end of the period. The Penguins struck first as Teddy Blueger got one by Sergei Bobrovsky. After that, the Panthers got a goal back after a nice shot by Frank Vatrano.
Panthers starting goalie Sergei Bobrovsky, coming off an injury, looked sharp throughout the game. Bobrovsky gave up two goals on 31 shots. However, Bobrovsky was out-dueled by Penguins starting goaltender Tristan Jarry, who stopped 36 shots on 38 attempts from Florida.
The Penguins took the lead in the second period on a goal by Evan Rodriques late in the frame.
In the third, the Cats struck early on a goal by captain Aleksander Barkov to knot the game at two. Late in the period, Bobrovsky shut the door to send the game to overtime.
After no goal in overtime, the game went on to a shootout. The Penguins proceeded to score twice over the Panthers’ one. This resulted in a victory for Pittsburgh.
