The Miami Dolphins are signing veteran running back Duke Johnson to their practice squad.
Johnson, 28, will make his return to Miami. The Miami-born running back spent his college career with the Miami Hurricanes, where he made some major impressions.
In high school, Johnson won the Mr. Football Award (Florida), which goes to the top high school football player in Florida. In college (with the Canes), Johnson had 3,519 rushing yards on 526 carries with 26 touchdowns, and had 69 receptions for 719 yards and four touchdowns.
To this day, Johnson is Miami’s all-time leading rusher.
In the NFL, Duke Johnson has been with the Browns, Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars. Last season with Houston (11 games), Johnson averaged three yards per carry and 8.9 yards on 28 receptions.
