Tim Tebow Released By Jacksonville Jaguars

After a lot of offseason speculation, hype and doubts, the Jacksonville Jaguars have released TE Tim Tebow.

Tebow, who rekindled his NFL career over the past offseason, played his first snap of football this past weekend since 2015. Saturday’s loss versus the Browns saw him participate on 16 snaps and only receive one target. He struggled to create production and faltered away from the skill positions, creating a lot of unwanted attention after an embarrassingly weak block.

“Thankful for the highs and even the lows, the opportunities, and the setbacks, said Tebow via Twitter. “I’ve never wanted to make decisions out of fear of failure and I’m grateful for the chance to have pursued a dream”.

Tebow’s Legacy at Florida

Tim Tebow first grew his name in the sunshine state with the Florida Gators, winning a pair of National Championships (2006 and 2008) and a Heisman Trophy in 2007. He holds the title of arguably the greatest quarterback in college football history and is famous for his numerous SEC records and “The Promise Speech.”

Struggles at the Professional Level

Professional football would treat the star QB unkindly, contributing to the downfall of his star-studded success.

The beloved play-caller had stints with multiple NFL teams prior to 2015 (including the Broncos, Jets and Patriots). His athletic pathway eventually led him to professional baseball, where he played in the New York Mets farm system.

What’s Next?

The Jacksonville Jaguars are set to face off in their next game against New Orleans on Monday, August 23rd. They’ll be up against a team that is overcoming the loss of future Hall of Famer Drew Brees.

As for Tebow, it looks like it’s the end (or reaffirmation of the end) of an era.
