Recent reports came out that the Houston Rockets tried to trade for Tyler Herro at the trade deadline but the Miami Heat resisted.
However, Miami is interested in both John Wall and Eric Gordon, making a trade with Houston very possible.
There were also recent reports regarding the chance of Tyler Herro getting dealt. According to Ethan Skolnick of Five Reasons Sports, there is a 75% chance that the Heat will trade Herro this offseason.
Tyler Herro
Herro, 24, has drawn a lot of interest from Houston. Herro shined in his rookie season, averaging 13.5 points per game and nearly 39% from beyond the three-point line. He also played extremely well in the bubble for the Heat, scoring in double figures in 20 of the team’s 21 games in its memorable playoff run. He also dropped 37 in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
Eric Gordon
Gordon, 32, has drawn interest from Miami. The shooting guard and small forward averaged 17.8 points, 2.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and .5 steals in 29 minutes per game this season. He shot 43% overall, and 33% on three-point shots, with a 58 TS%.
Overall, Gordon is a valuable veteran role player who offers production at both ends. When healthy, he believes he’s an elite 3-point shooter, which he’s shown at times over his 13 NBA seasons. Gordon also provides a huge defensive impact.
John Wall
Even though Wall’s massive contract will pay him $44.3 million next year, the Heat are still interested in the 30-year-old.
A signing of Wall would be an upgrade from Herro, though Herro is only 21 and dealt with injuries this year after a solid rookie campaign last season.
In 40 games this season, Wall averaged 20.6 points, 6.9 assists, and 3.2 rebounds. This came on 40.4% shooting from the field and 31.7% from beyond the arc.
Conclusion
Overall, a deal sending Tyler Herro to the Rockets is definitely possible. However, the Heat would have to include more than Herro in any deal for either Wall or Gordon due to the disparity in salaries.
