With the 251st pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers selected CB Chris Wilcox out of BYU.
Chris Wilcox
It’s been a long time since BYU had a cornerback taken in the NFL draft. But now, Chris Wilcox has broken that streak. (The last Cougar cornerback to be drafted was Brian Mitchell in 1991).
Wilcox, 6-foot-2, 195-pounds, had 18 total tackles last season. But in his career at BYU, Wilcox had 87 tackles and eight pass breakups.
Wilcox also had a fantastic high school career. As a senior, he had 71 total tackles, one interception, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery for a touchdown. The former track athlete also ran a 4.31 40 yard dash at BYU’s pro day.
Wilcox has outstanding size and speed and projects to be a developmental cornerback who will need to show out (and stay healthy) on special teams.
