The Miami Dolphins currently hold the No. 6 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft. Who should the Fins draft?
Penei Sewell, OT
Penei Sewell is hands down the best Offensive Lineman in the draft and is ranked 4th overall on PFF’s draft board. Sewell is only 20-years-old and is 6’6″ and 330 pounds. When he was a freshman, PFF gave him the highest single-season grade they’ve ever given an offensive lineman. Despite Sewell opting out for the 2020 season, he is still high on many boards due to his potential. Many mock drafts have the Bengals taking Sewell with the 5th pick to stop the abusing of QB Joe Burrow. But the Dolphins need to hop on the opportunity if this is not the case.
Ja’Marr Chase, WR
Ja’Marr Chase is another college football player that opted out this past season. However, Chase has already put together a great resume for the 2021 NFL Draft. In 2019, Chase caught 84 passes for 1,780 yards and 20 touchdowns, winning a National Championship along the way. Not to mention, Chase was the No 1. Wide Receiver over Justin Jefferson during that year. And how did Jefferson turn out? Well, after getting drafted by the Minnesota Vikings with the 22nd pick in the 2020 NFL Draft, he set an NFL rookie record for receiving yards with 1,400 and was named to the Pro Bowl.
Devonta Smith, WR
Devonta Smith is a possible target for the Dolphins because of his collegiate connection to Tua Tagovailoa. During the 22-year-olds senior season at Alabama, he had 117 receptions for 1,856 yards and was the first Wide Receiver to win the Heisman Trophy since Desmond Howard in 1991. Smith is an insanely good receiver, despite having many questions about his size.
Micah Parsons, LB
Micah Parsons was yet another player that opted out during the 2020 College Football season. The 21-year-old is all over draft boards, but he recently raised his stock after Pro Day. Parsons ran a 4.39 40-yard dash, which caught the eyes of many.
Following Parsons’ strong showing at Penn State Pro Day, it seems that he has largely solidified his status as a top-10 pick in the eyes of scouts and evaluators, as well as some of the most recent mock drafts. But for the Dolphins, they have gained much interest in Parsons, especially after the departure of LB Kyle Van Noy.
