Nashville Beats Tampa Bay 4-1

The Tampa Bay Lightning suffered a 4-1 loss against the Nashville Predators on Monday afternoon. After a scoreless first period, Nashville came into the second period strong, scoring three goals. Tampa Bay then scored in the third, but couldn’t keep up with the Preds as they won 4-1.

Game Flow

After a scoreless first period, Nashville dominated the second period. Eli Tolvanen scored this game’s first goal, 3 minutes into the frame. Later on in the period, Victor Arvidsson would score on the power play to give Nashville a 2-0 lead. The Predators weren’t done there. Calle Jarnkrok would score a shorthanded goal to put the Preds up 3-0.

Tampa Bay came into the third looking to respond. Ten minutes in, Steven Stamkos scored the Lighting’s first goal of the game, but unfortunately, that was all Tampa would get. Mattias Ekholm would score an empty netter as Nashville closed the game out at Amalie Arena.

Barclay Goodrow: “The way we played in the third was desperate. If we played like that from the get-go, we would have put ourselves in a much better spot.”

With the win, Nashville improves to 12-16-1 (6th in Central Division), while Tampa Bay falls to 19-6-2 (3rd in Central Division).

  • Pekka Rinne of the Predators went 38-39 with a percentage of .974.
  • Nashville earned their first win against the Lightning since Oct. 26, 2019, snapping a six-game slide (0-5-1).
