Rob Gronkowski Re-Signs With Tampa Bay

In a slew of moves in the NFL on Monday, Rob Gronkowski is returning to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on a one-year deal, worth $10M. This move comes after the Buccaneers re-signed Shaquil Barrett, to a 4-year, $72M dollar deal. Gronkowski played 20 games in this past season (including the playoffs), catching 45 passes for 623 yards and 7 TD’s. But in his career, the five-time Pro-Bowler has 566 receptions for 8,484 yards and 86 touchdowns in 131 regular-season games.

Rob Gronkowski

When Rob Gronkowski retired in March of 2019, it was always wondered if he’d make a comeback to the NFL. Gronk’s numerous back injuries had made his comeback to football quite unlikely. However, Gronk had never ruled out a return to the league and came back last year to join the Bucs on a one-year deal. Gronk was not used in the passing game much, but was mainly there to block as a big body upfront. Gronk worked his way into the passing game though, and ended the season on a high note with 67 yards and 2 TD’s in the Super Bowl.  So at the age of 31, Gronk will be returning for another year in the league.

Brady and Gronk

Rob Gronkowski and Tom Brady will begin to train shortly for their 11th season together. Since Gronk has entered the league, he has caught 101 touchdown passes from Brady (Regular Season and Postseason). This is second to the duo of Peyton Manning and Marvin Harrison, who had 112 combined touchdowns.
