The Magic Fall to the Bucks, Losing 121-99

The Magic dropped their third straight game at home against the Bucks on Monday Night. After a hot start, Orlando has cooled off sitting just a game above .500 as of now.

Overview

The Magic lost despite 20+ pt efforts from Nikola Vucevic and Aaron Gordon, with Vucevic recording 13 rebounds as well. The Magic had a tough time guarding back to back MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo, and All Star Khris Middleton who had 22 and 20 respectively. Without Markelle Fultz, Orlando needs Cole Anthony to step up, which didn’t happen against Milwaukee. The Magic also hope they can get more production from their bench. For the Bucks they had Bobby Portis drop 20 off the bench on 9/13 shooting.

Magic PG Problem

Orlando has a problem at PG right now, as they have rookie guard Cole Anthony starting. While Anthony has shown much promise, he doesn’t seem ready yet to assume a starting role. He needs to improve his efficiency and develop more. Jordan Bone has started to get some minutes after Fultz’s injury, and has been solid. He is very athletic, and could be big if he can produce for the Magic off the bench.

Time for the Magic to start Terrence Ross?

Terrence Ross has been great so far this year averaging 16.5 PPG off the bench and the Magic might like to keep him there as a scorer off the bench, but their starting 2 guard spot is a mess as of now. It could benefit Steve Clifford to plug Ross into the starting lineup sooner rather than later. Ross has arguably been one of the best bench players so far in the NBA.

Future Schedule

Orlando has 3 more games this week, facing off against the Celtics twice on Wednesday and Friday. They also have a game on Friday against the Nets. It’ll be a tough week for them as they could end up falling below .500.
