Takeaways from Dolphins Loss to Chiefs

Miami was optimistic going into Sunday’s game vs. Kansas City, but after a late comeback attempt the Dolphins fell short.

The Dolphins started the game with the lead, multiple interceptions, and momentum. But by the end of the first half, the Chiefs were in the lead. The Chiefs added on to their lead and were up 30-10 at one point.

The lead didn’t stop the Dolphins from much. They stormed back and were able to make it a one score game with just under 3 minutes to go, at 30-24, but the Chiefs were able to run down the clock, and the Chiefs improved their record to a now league leading 12-1 with the final score being 33-24.

This loss may be really crucial, and it’s at least reasonable to panic, considering the Dolphins now just have to go 1-2 in order to potentially miss the playoffs at 9-7 depending on who they lose to. It’s important to remember though that the Chiefs not only have the best record in the league, but are also widely considered the best team in the league and the most talented team. This team also won the Super Bowl in Miami not too long ago.

The fact that they put up with the best team in the league, has to give Miami fans a smile, and a positive to takeaway from yesterday. Miami should be surprised in the first place that they’re 8-5 and competing for a playoff spot.

Where does this loss put the Dolphins?

The loss is somewhat crucial. The Dolphins could lose to the Patriots, and either the Raiders or Bills, and they most likely miss the playoffs. A win next week against the Patriots would really help out. That would put the Patriots out of playoff contention which could take a good load of pressure off the Dolphins. The Patriots are still in the playoff race, considering they have the tiebreaker for the Ravens, Dolphins, and Raiders. If the Patriots beat the Dolphins next week, they can tie each of those teams at 9-7, and they’d be in the playoffs.

Therefore, a win for the Dolphins next week is not a must win, but it would really help.
