Rays Continue to Struggle, Lose to Blue Jays 6-3

Shane McClanahan and the Tampa Bay Rays dropped their second to the Toronto Blue Jays and their fifth in a row overall. The Rays dropped this matchup by a score of 6-3. Yet again, the Rays failed to get back into the win column and their woes unfortunately continue. These woes come at a time where the division leader Red Sox continue to scorch opponents. If the Rays wish to make a playoff push, they need to find their identity and turn these struggles around.

On the opposition, Vlad Guerrero Jr. and the Jays hit the gas on Tampa and didn’t let up one bit. The Jays looked to get out to a hot start and that is exactly what they did. George Springer launched a home run in the bottom of the second inning. This home run set the tone for the rest of the game.

Shane McClanahan gave up a home run to George Springer in the second inning. However, a glimmer of hope shined in the top of the fourth inning. Manuel Margot blasted a home run to center field to tie the ball game at one apiece. The Jays then put up five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and from there it was all she wrote.

The Rays bats stayed quiet until the top of the ninth where they managed to put up two runs off of a single by Kevin Kiermaier. That was all the Rays had in the tank as their late-game heroics were simply too little and far too late. I
